Dr. Jose C. Munoz

JOSE C. MUNOZ, M.D., 79, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Parkview Hospital. Born Aug. 7, 1932, in Manila, Philippines. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, in 1957; completed a rotating internship at University of Santo Tomas; completed a rotating internship at Alexian Brothers Hospital & Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, St. Louis, MO from 1958-1959; served his residency at University of Oklahoma from 1959 to 1961, and Driscoll Children's Hospital & Baylor Medical School from 1961 to 1963; was the Unit Director, Unit 8, at Anna State Hospital, Anna, Ill. from 1965-1966 and was an associate faculty member at IU Medical School, Fort Wayne from 1971 to 1977. A pediatrician for over 50 years, he served 40 of those years in Fort Wayne. He had been affiliated with Lutheran Hospital, Parkview Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, and Dupont Hospital. He was a member of the Indiana State Medical Association; American Medical Association; Allen County Medical Society, Fort Wayne; and Allen County Pediatric Society, Fort Wayne; Grant County Mental Health Association; Medical Advisory Group; March of Dimes; the Marion General Hospital; Tau Mu Sigma Phi Medical Fraternity and Philippine Medical Association. Surviving are his wife, Roberta J.; one sister; and one brother. "He was devoted to the medical profession and loved children especially the children he had in his practice." Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception, 1122 S. Clinton.
