
KATHRYN "KITTY" MARIE McDANIEL, 88, died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at Parkview Hospital. Kitty was born April 14, 1925 in Clinton, Ind., the daughter of Raymond and Ruth Lockman. She married Gilbert Ray McDaniel on Aug. 11, 1946 at the Miner's Picnic in Terre Haute, Ind. at a public wedding in front of ten thousand guests. She had a zest for life and loved spending time with her family. Her favorite past times were gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, playing cards, online bingo and reading Amish novels. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star chapter 278 in Leo, Ind. If one word had to be used to describe her by all that knew her, that word would be "feisty". Surviving are her sister, Helen of Waukegan, Ill.; five children, Gilbert Ray McDaniel Jr. of Pueblo, Colo., Jerry Lee McDaniel of Leo, Ind., Debra Kay Shubert of Spencerville, Ind., Dana Marie Tinsley of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Raymond "Ted" McDaniel of Leo, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ruth Lockman; her husband, Gilbert Ray McDaniel Sr.; and her son, Edward K. McDaniel. "She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her." Service is 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., with calling from 9 to 11 a.m. Eastern Star Service is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Ind. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
