

Lawrence “Larry” Wright, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away on July 11, 2016. Born on January 23, 1923, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late James and Viola Wright. He was a member of North Park Community Church; proudly served his country in the Army during WWII in Guadalcanal; a member of American Legion 499; a member of the Waynedale and Foster Park Lions Club, a 26 year member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge, a 25 year member of the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite; and a member of the Fort Wayne Flying Circuits and retired in 1983 from Dana Corp, after 32 years of service as a receiving inspector.
He is survived by his wife of over 68 years, Bettie R. Wright; children, Sheldon L. Wright and Kay Anne (Gary) Otis; grandchildren, Jodi Schroeder, Brian Wright, Mindy Sparling, Adam Otis and Tracy Otis; great-grandchildren, Harmonie Otis, Nicholas Schroeder, Malia Wright, Parker Wright, Sarah Sparling and Isabelle Lehman. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Merl Wright; and sister, Ruth Wright.
Funeral service will be 1pm Saturday July 16, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior to service. Calling will also be held from 4 to 8pm Friday July 15, at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana.
