Lloyd V. King, 67, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, lovingly surrounded by his family. He was born on November 18, 1956 and raised in Fort Wayne. He worked in food service as a restaurant manager for Lucky Steer and for Hall’s family restaurants. As an adult learner, he attended Ivy Tech, proudly acquiring his CDM license as dietary manager in extended care facilities. Retirement gave him more time for his hobbies which included participating in car shows with his beloved Chevy, photography, spending time in nature, travel, ballroom dancing, and bicycling. He is survived by his wife, Diane Schafer-King; son, Derek (fiance, Meagan) King of Palm Bay, Florida; daughter, Christen (fiance, Shaun) King of Fort Wayne; brothers, Lawton (Cindy) King of Fort Wayne, Lamont King of Woodburn, Indiana, and Lowell King of Willis, Texas; sisters, Phelicia ( Daniel) Kemp of Linton, Indiana and Patricia (James) McGuire of New Haven, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Phyllis King; and brothers, Lance, Lyle, Lynn and Lon. Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the funeral home.
