Magdline "Sue" Dykes Harris was born on April 7, 1932 in Fitzgerald Georgia, to the late John Dykes and Addie White. She transitioned to her enteral resting place peacefully on July 14, 2020 at Heritage Park Nursing Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Magdline was known by friends and family as "Sue". She had a strong faith in God and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She attended the Seventh-Day Adventist Church under the leadership of Pastor Wayne Hosten until her health declined. Magdline loved the Lord and ensured everyone knew it. She not only talked the talk but truly lived by example.
Throughout Sue's employment career she held many positions working for several companies in Fort Wayne and in the Huntington area. Sue loved people and stood out in the work place and community as a person who was compassionate, kind and caring. Because of those qualities and desire to help others she often open her home and heart to people in need. While working for Memcor Division in Huntington, IN she was appointed to serve on the Human Relations Committee as an effort to reflect change regarding communication, diversity and inclusion.
Sue was doing the work behind the scenes trying to make our world a better place with many of today's world issues surrounding equality, diversity, inclusion and humanity. Sue as we called her was a silent caring giant that was loved and will be missed. Lessons taught will live on in many who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Sue always encouraged young people to be kind, love one another and to finish school. Realizing how important it was to complete one's education and lead by example, later in life she earned her high school equivalency degree. Securing her high school degree was one of her greatest accomplishments. After securing her diploma she was invited to join First Lady Barbara Bush in Washington DC at the White House for being one of the first Charter members in Indiana of the Literacy initiative campaign.
Magdaline "Sue" was loved and cherished by many.
