Michael Duane "Mike" McWilliams

Michael Duane “Mike” McWilliams, went to God’s glorious paradise on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the age of 69. He was born in Kendallville, Indiana on April 7, 1955. He graduated from Central Noble High School in 1973 and attended Valparaiso University and graduated in 1977. He worked for Lincoln National Life Insurance for 19 years where he met the love of his life, Heidi R. Keurzoneff, in 1980. They were married on November 14, 1981. After leaving Lincoln National Life Insurance, he worked for IBM for 10 years. He left IBM in 2007 to take care of his parents. He returned to the workforce as a math tutor at IVY Tech Community College (Fort Wayne campus). He retired on January 6, 2023. Mike was a devout Lutheran who attended Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Fort Wayne for 41 years. He was highly active in the church serving as an elder, usher captain, morning men’s Bible study, member of multiple committees, captain of the dartball team, and he helped clean the school. In Mike’s spare time, he enjoyed time with his wife - especially traveling to locate covered bridges and daily Bible devotions, working on spreadsheets, watching granddaughters play volleyball, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mike was proceeded into death by his father, Frank W., and mother, Mary L. née Gienger. He is survived by his wife, Heidi; daughter, Michelle (Mark) Kuehnert of Fort Wayne; son, Matthew (Sherry) McWilliams of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Jaina, Jacen, Allana, and Aden McWilliams, and McKenzie and Bexley Kuehnert; brother, Monty (Mona) McWilliams of Fort Wayne; niece, Katie McWilliams of Arvada, Colorado; nephews, Dr. Kyle McWilliams and Clay McWilliams of Fort Wayne, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral service will be 11 am on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8811 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the church. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
