

Mildred V. (Korte) Roese, 96, of Fort Wayne, died on November 27, 2013. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Fred C. and Amelia (Horman) Korte. She graduated from the Luther Institute and Central High School, and attended Franklin College. Mildred had a long and blessed life that touched many through her work in the paper industry, local community, church, as well as through her intrepid motor home travels. She was one of the first female president’s of a paper company in the U.S. and retired after more than 50 years as the co-founder and president of Korte Paper Co, Inc. Mildred was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Ladies Aid, bible study and taught Sunday school for over 20 years. She was a trustee with the YWCA, past president of the Delta Zeta sorority, past president of the Indiana Chiropractic Auxiliary and a member of the Fort Wayne Women’s Club. She is survived by daughter Gloria (Jim) Nash of Fort Wayne; step-daughter Janice Ramsey of Fort Wayne and step-son Michael (Sandy) Roese of Frankfurt, IN; eight grandchildren, Fred (Kathleen Kemme) Nash, Elizabeth Nash, Jennifer Nash, Kim (Sean) Davis, Chris (Shelly) Ramsey, Leah Roese, Maria Roese, and Scott Roese; twelve great-grandchildren, Sydney Roese Kemme Nash, Dever Kemme Nash, Nathaniel Kemme Nash, Sarah Kemme Nash, Hannah Davis, Lauren Davis, Madison Ramsey, Seth Ramsey, Jamie Roese, Joshua Roese, April Roese, and Michael Roese. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wade John Verweire, Jr. and second husband Dr. F. Richard Roese. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 6th (Mildred’s 97th birthday) at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 1126 S. Barr St., Fort Wayne, IN. Visitation will be held at Hockemeyer & Miller on Thursday, December 5th from 4-7pm, and on Friday from 10-11am before the service. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Preferred memorials may be given to the Mildred Roese scholarship at St. Paul’s Lutheran School or Camp Lutherhaven.
