

PHYLLIS J. JAMES, 86, of Fort Wayne, died on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 1, 1926, in Fort Wayne, she was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She retired in 1973 from Central Soya after 20 years of service, and had previously worked for International Harvester. She was also a member of American Legion Post 296 Ladies Auxiliary; graduate of Central High School; past member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Federation of Lutheran Women. Surviving are her daughters, Patricia James of New Haven and Pauline (Duwayne) Maas of Springfield, Mo.; sons, David (Kathy) James of Larwill, Eugene (Linda) James of Fort Wayne, John (Marie) James Jr. of New Haven, and Kurt (Tina) James of Albion; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John James Sr., in 1993; three brothers; and one sister. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Steve Ahlersmeyer officiating. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials to St. Peter's Lutheran School Tuition Fund.
