Rex E. Kitchen, 88, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at home. He was born on June 10, 1934 in Fort Wayne. He worked for Fort Wayne City Utilities for 30 years and owned R & K Auto Sales. Rex was a former member of the Elks, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and American Legion 499. In his free time, he enjoyed golf, bowling, watching NASCAR, reading the paper, and spending time with his wife, and dog, Chloe. Rex is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Carol Kitchen; and five daughters, Cindy Kitchen, Karen Waldrop, Kathy DeSelm, Deborah Busian, and Patty Meek. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Cherie Rumple and Colleen Troxel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Violet (Leatherman) Kitchen; brothers, Dick, David, Larry, and Robert Kitchen; as well as his sister, Diane Wroblewski. Celebration of Life will be at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Road in Fort Wayne on June 3, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made to Humane Fort Wayne.
