RICHARD L. "JONATHAN WINTERS" FORTIER SR., 71, of Fort Wayne, walked into the loving arms of his Lord on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 15, 1940, in Elkhart, Ind. He was a member First Church of the Nazarene where he served in various capacities. He retired in 1999 as an Operations Manager at Carpenter Paper Co. after 18 years, and had previously worked at Taylor Martin Paper Co. "He loved his Lord and his family and was known for his crazy sense of humor." Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Betty; sons, Richard "Rick" (Jenny) Fortier of Oakwood, Ill. and Scott Fortier of Fort Wayne; grandsons, Nick Fortier Sr. and Zach Fortier; great-grandson, Nick Fortier Jr.; sister, Elaine Feldner of Fort Wayne; two half brothers; and two half sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2012, at the funeral home. Private burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Preferred memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the church.
