

Richard P. "Dick" Pequignot, 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023. Born September 28, 1936, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Arthur F. and Nellie M. (Rice) Pequignot. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, Fort Wayne. He served in the U.S. Navy on submarines and was discharged as a Yeoman Class A. He was the owner and operator of Pequignot Auto Sales for 55 years and after retiring from there, he owned a kerosene heater sales and service business. He enjoyed snowmobiling, the lake, water skiing at the Lake James Ski Club, boating, roller-skating in dance competitions and racing at Bells Rink and the Roller Dome, and driving cars and riding motorcycles. He was active in stock car racing as a sponsor at Baer Field Speedway. He will also be remembered for his talent for telling stories and jokes and was a great "Mr. Fix-it". The family would like to express their thanks to Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home and Stillwater Hospice for his excellent care. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Pequignot; children, Chad Pequignot, Rae Lynn (Jeff) Holderness, Leslie Welbaum, and Jules (Ladonna Heller) Pequignot; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Judith Martony and Joyce Boyce; former wife and mother of his children, Carmen Pequignot; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by one brother, James A. Pequignot. A celebration of life gathering is from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne.
