Shirley A. Schmidt, 86, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Parkview Hospital Randallia, Fort Wayne, IN. She was born January 25, 1935 in Harlan, IN, a daughter of the late Vivian Schlatter-Louden and Robert Botteron.
Shirley retired from teaching Home Economics in the East Allen County School system. She enjoyed singing with with family as well as Sweet Adeline's, traveling, piloting private airplanes, and playing Euchre. Shirley was active in Kings Daughters and Sons, enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family. Surviving are daughters Sheryl Horne of Avilla, Jennie Sovine of Harlan, Kari Jackson of Harlan, Collette (Mike) Smith of Columbus, Oh and Denise (Mark) Hollman of Indianapolis, 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, sister Sally (Greg) Lake and sister-in-laws Barb Botteron and MaryLou Botteron. She was preceded in death by husband Gay H Schmidt, son Philip Volkert, sister Catherine Smith, brothers Robert Botteron, James Botteron, William Botteron, and grandson Christopher Jackson.
Funeral service will be 1:30 Friday February 5, 2021 at Hockemeyer Miller Funeral Home (6131 St. Joe Road Fort Wayne), with visitation beginning two hours prior. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery Fort Wayne IN.
