Thomas James Cordes

Thomas James Cordes, 62, of Lake George, Fremont, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Born in 1952 in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Helen L. (Koenig) Cordes, who survives. Tom earned an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor Degree in Construction Technology, both from Purdue University. He was the president and owner of Cordes Drywall for over 25 years and was the past president of Land of Lakes Lions Club and recipient of the 2014 Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He often enjoyed being at the Lion’s Club and helping raise money for scholarships. Tom was a fun and outgoing guy who enjoyed hosting guests and having party’s/fish-fry’s at his lake home. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing pinball. Tom was a wonderful father and grandfather; he enjoyed serving and giving to others. Tom loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. Surviving are his loving wife, Karla (Foust) Cordes of Fort Wayne; his daughter, Kami (John) Watson of Fort Wayne; his son, Matt (Charlene) Cordes of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Kole, Aubrey, Natalie, Andrew, and Aaron; his sisters, Lisa (Matt) Hauschild and Sherri (Alan) Pflueger, both of Fort Wayne; his brothers, Luther (Nancy) Cordes of Lima, OH and Ronald (Darlisa Davis) Cordes of Indianapolis, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00am on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church, 355 IN-120., Fremont, Ind., (46737) with calling one hour prior; Pastor Wayne Berkesch Officiating. Calling will also be from 1-3pm and 5-7pm on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne. Burial Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
