Thomas Allen Hendrick, 70, passed away Saturday December 11, 2021, at this home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born August 13, 1951, in Madison, Indiana, he was son to the late James L. Hendrick and Myrtle R. (Howard) Hendrick.
Thomas is survived by his wife Debra (Todd) Hendrick, sons Ryan (Anna) Hendrick, Andrew Hendrick, stepson Heath (Ashley) Luther, stepdaughters Tia (Greg) Matney, Mica Smith, brother Paul (Gertrude) Hendrick, sister Mary (Bobby) Shepherd, and his 13 grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, James Hendrick.
Thomas grew up in Madison Indiana playing basketball in his youth, and later attended Ball State for college and eventually moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. After a long career in Sales, Thomas retired in March of 2019 from Northern Industrial Flooring where he had worked for many years.
Thomas received a bi-lateral lung transplant in 2008 that gave him 14 additional years to continue doing the things he loved most with his family and friends. Thomas loved playing golf any time the weather would allow it. He and his wife enjoyed watching Indiana University Basketball games together. He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren at their sporting events or just spend time with them. Thomas wore many “hats” throughout the years. To some he was “Thomas,” others as just “Tom,” close friends would call him “Tommy,” and his adoring grandkids knew him as “PaPa.”
Thomas lives on in our hearts and through our memories of the man he was and the impact he had on each of us during his life.
A visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM, Saturday, January 8th, 2021 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home at 6131 Saint Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46835 and followed by a small Memorial Service starting at 4:00 PM for family and close friends.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.HockemeyerMillerFH.com for the Hendrick family.
