

VIRGINIA S. McNIECE, 91, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born April 22, 1922, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of John Howard and Anna (Meyer) Walbolt. She married Floyd R. McNiece on May 19, 1942, in Hattiesburg, Miss. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Leo High School graduate, Officer in the Ridge Road Club, member of the Leo Women's Club, and member of a pinochle club. "She was a loving mother", and worked for 31 years at the Grabill and Auburn License Bureaus. During World War II she worked at General Electric and also at S.S. Kresge Department Store where she played a bugle for the customers. She enjoyed boating, camping, gardening, playing cards, I.U. basketball and spending time with her family. Surviving are her daughter, Linda S. (Rick) Clock of Upland; son, Floyd R. (Natalie) McNiece III of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Logan McNiece, Lauren McNiece, Shannon (Butch) Holter, Kelly Jackson, and Curtis Clock; and sisters, Evelyn Miller and Joan Saalfrank both of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. McNiece in 2006. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, Saint Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Leo Memorial Cemetery, Leo.
