
Bonnie Jean McAlexander was born on August 30, 1926 in Waldo Kansas, the daughter of Claude Miller and Laura (Burns) Miller. She died July 15, 2013 in Security, Colorado. In between, she lived a life of grace, joy, and purpose. Bonnie brought delight and found success in every task and endeavor. She was a high school athlete who went to state with a team that never lost a game. She and her mother traveled about Western Kansas singing for every kind of social event. While still in high school she fell in love with Charles McAlexander and they were married on October 23, 1943 in Hayes, Kansas. This was the beginning of remarkable lifetime partnership as she traveled with him from base to base as he prepared for war and, after his return from Europe, as she worked beside him building businesses, growing their family, strengthening churches, sustaining deep friendships, caring for others and finding joy in every circumstance. She was a person of abiding faith and trusted Jesus to carry her through every adversity.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ramona Mullender.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Charles, and her children, Claudia (Bill) Newth of Holyoke, Colorado, Bruce McAlexander of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Charla (Eric) Bogren of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tammy Gillis, Renee Cinkosky, Lance Phair, Crystal Lopez, Melissa Thomson, and Charles McAlexander and by great-grandchildren, Nicles Long, Taylor Phair, Ashlyn Phair, Katelin Lopez, Christopher Lopez, Haylea Lopez and Scarlett Enriquez, Ty Thomson and JakeThomson, and by Trish Reishus, who cared for her in these last years. She leaves behind a host of friends and will be deeply missed.
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, July 23 at 10:00 AM at Pikes Peak Christian Church, 4955 Bradley Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
