

Carolyn passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on July 2, 2025, at the age of ninety-one. She was born in Denver, Colorado on April 13, 1934, to Neal and Nellie Verbeek. Carolyn graduated from North High School in 1952 and later worked at American National Bank in Denver for 4 years. During that time, she met her future husband Harvey Hoffman who worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. They were married on February 26, 1954, and remained together until Harvey’s death on September 6, 2018.
Carolyn and Harvey moved to Colorado Springs in 1957 where their son Paul, and their daughter Paula were born. Carolyn and Harvey attended First Baptist Church of Security/Widefield for 30 years. Carolyn was the organist and worked as the church secretary for 14 years. In 1998, Harvey and Carolyn became members of Pikes Peak Park Baptist church. Carolyn served again as the organist and filled in for the church secretary as needed.
Carolyn was a strong Christian who faithfully served in the churches she attended. She was a talented musician, wonderful cook, and had a quick wit. Carolyn cherished spending time with family and friends, and her favorite activities included bowling, skiing, camping, mowing, and tending to the flowers in her yard.
Carolyn is survived by her sister Sharon Verbeek, her son Paul Hoffman (Elaine), her daughter Paula Smith (Mark), and granddaughters Rachael Verhoeff and Jenny Smith.
Visitation – Monday July 21st, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dove-Witt Mortuary, 6630 South US Highway 85/87 in Fountain.
Burial – Tuesday, July 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway in Colorado Springs.
