Deborah "Debbie" Ann Herrman

Deborah A. Herrman, born February 20th, 1953, passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 72. She was born and lived the majority of her life in Colorado Springs, CO. She has also called Kansas, Netherlands and California home during her years, spending three years traveling through Europe.

Debbie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Leon Herrman, whom she married on January 26, 1981. She will be deeply missed by her children: Heath Santos (sons Jacob and William), Kristy Schleiker (son Tyler), Nicolas Herrman (wife Nicole, sons Gabriel and Joel), daughter Debbie Herrman (daughters Faith and Grace), and son Keith Herrman (wife Stacy, daughter Hope, son Chase, and grandchildren Brielle and Paxton). In total, she leaves behind five children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Cheryl Green, and Tami Crandall. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline (Pollart) and Jacob Behm.

Debbie was very creative and loved doing all kinds of crafts, her favorites were jewelry making, flower arranging, painting, and scrapbooking just to name a few. She also had a deep fascination with her family’s history and dedicated much time to researching genealogy. Her entertainment tastes were equally diverse. She enjoyed watching science fiction and scary movies, as well as classic Westerns.

Throughout her career, Debbie worked at numerous military installations, where she ran multiple craft shops at various bases. She also served with Morale, Welfare, and Recreation on Fort Carson, working at the Information, Tickets, and Recreation (ITR) office and the Bowling Alley. Debbie loved taking every opportunity she had involving herself in activities that supported the military soldiers and their families. She retired from Federal Service on Fort Carson in 2003.

She loved bringing friends and family together during the summer and holidays. Always the first to offer to host, organize and decorate for every occasion. She was an active member of her community and formally served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary at the American Legion, Post #38.

Debbie faced significant health challenges, having been diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s Disease in 1996 and later with Dementia in 2023. Despite these obstacles, she maintained her spirit and love for her family.

Debbie was loved by many, and will be missed and remembered by all of us.

A rosary service for Deborah will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 US-85, Colorado Springs, CO 80911, followed by a funeral mass from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will follow with the immediate family at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery.

A Celebration of life in her honor will be held at 2:00pm Friday, May 30, 2025, at the American Legion Post #38, in Security, CO. All friends and family are welcome to join the family at St. Dominic Catholic Church and the America Legion.
