Master Sgt. Emery Romero, 60, who was born October 12, 1950 in Lovington, NM, died June 18, 2011.
He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service to his country
Throughout his career, he received many awards, honors and commendations. During his military career, he was in Vietnam, Korea, Hawaii, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Colorado, Germany, California and Watertown, NY.
He is survived by his wife, Teodorita Romero; his daughter, Nadia (Richard) Lemesany; his son, Emeric (Rosa) Romero; his brothers, Jose (Dolores) Romero, Eutemio Romero, and Frank (Stevana) Romero; his sisters, Theresa Irene Buckley of Clovis, NM, Dora Romero, Wilmington, NC, and Gloria Teri (Ron) Flick from Norman, OK and eight grandchildren, Alvina, Brandon, Jolon, Marissa, Eliana, Trinity, Marcela and Jaya.
He was preceded in death by his father, Manual S. Romero; his mother, Evangelina Montano Romero and his sister, Barbara Montano.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wed., June 22) at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 S. Highway 85/87 (just north of Security.) Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Fountain. A reception will follow at VFW Post 6461, 753 S. Santa Fe. Ave., Fountain.
Arrangements are being handled by Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Highway 85/87, Fountain.
