

Mrs. De Groot was born December 2,1925 in Hanover to John and Ivy (Hoskins) Baker. She was married December 15, 1941 in Raton, New Mexico to Forrest De Groot, who died May 19, 1967. Eva went to school at Hanover. Following her marriage Eva became a farmer and farmer's wife. They also milked
cows and Eva drove a truck to haul the cream for them and their neighbors of IXL creamery in Colorado Springs. They left Hanover in 1954, Forrest became a farm manager at Midway. Eva started driving school bus for Wigwam School District. They moved to Pinon in 1961 to ranch and run a construction
business. Eva drove school bus for Pueblo County School District. They moved to Howard, Colorado in 1963. They purchased a ranch which they worked together until 1966. They moved back to the Fountain area and worked for Hanna Ranches. They had become foster parents by then. Following the
death of Forrest, Eva moved back to Hanover where she continued to raise cows and farm. Eva became a bus driver for Hanover School District. She continued to foster children until she moved to Colorado Springs where she became a care provider for women with mental disabilities. Eva had a lifelong love of family. She always felt blessed to have such a large and loving family.
She is survived by one son Roger De Groot (Delene) of Hanover. Four daughters; Karen Million (Dave) of Pueblo, Elaine Newman of Colorado Springs, Lynne Novotny (David) of Calhan and Lana Sue De Groot of Peyton, two foster children Randy Pearson of California and Joy Vialpando (Virgil) of Peyton. She is
survived by 8 grand children, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers John, William, Earl and George and six sisters Mae Ball, Ollie Ball, Virginia Hammer, Nina Mc Call, Alice Wright and Betty Frisch, a foster son Melvin Denes and a son-in-law John Newmen.
There will be a memorial service following the first of the year. It was her wish that friends and family remember her by taking time to visit a lonely person, the elderly or the ill. She also asked that instead of sending flowers to give them to someone you love who is still living.
