

SFC Joseph Macias, 69 passed away peacefully at his home on March 16, 2021. Joe Macias was a decorated veteran who served in in the United States Army for 22 years. He graduated from Central Texas College in 1992.
Joe Macias was born on May 2, 1951 in Albuquerque, NM to his parents Joe and Guadalupe Macias. He was just 18 when Joe decided he to join the US Army to avoid the draft, in 1970. In 1973 Joe was assigned to Ft. Carson. During his time at Ft Carson, he met and fell in love with his wife Janet Macias who he married in October 1974. The military took Joe and his family to many parts of the United States and overseas. After serving and traveling in Korea, (2 tours) Germany (2 tours) and several states in the United States; during his stint at Ft. Hood, he served in Desert Shield/ Desert Storm. He retired from Ft. Hood Texas in 1992 and moved to Colorado Springs. They made Colorado Springs their home
After pursuing his military career Joe pursued and had a successful career in Warehouse Management. He worked for a few companies following his military retirement. He was recognized as a very strong Warehouse Manager and was very talented and loved to enhance his knowledge in the computer field, implementing many advances in the field of warehousing during his career. Due to his service-connected injuries and medical conditions Joe had to retire in 2011.
Joe enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was a loving and kind husband and father.
He was very active in his church and loved to sing and serve his Lord. He was always witnessing to people about Jesus.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Joe and Guadalupe Macias. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Janet Macias and son Michael Macias. He is also survived by his brother Danny Macias and sister Cecelia Romero. Also, several nieces and nephews and other family members.

There will be a celebration of life held on Saturday March 27, 2021 at Colorado Springs Baptist Church. 5410 E Woodmen Road, Colorado Springs, Co 80920 at 11am.
