Louis A. Borrego Sr. “Lou,” 87, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away November 30, 2020, at his nursing facility. He was born to Jose Demetrio Martinez “Joe” and Ondfre Erminia (Gelardi) Martinez Madrigal “Nora” on January 8, 1933 in Dicks, Colorado. He was later in life adopted and raised by his maternal grandparents, Felix Valentin and Epifania Gonzales Borrego. Louis was married for 68 years to Solema Fresquez Borrego “Sally”, who preceded him in death on November 20, 2020. They were married on July 5, 1952 in Trinidad, Colorado.
Lou proudly served 20 years in the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic and aircraft mechanic instructor for the Inter-American Air Force Academy for the Latin American Countries (Albrook Air Force Base, Panama). After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed in Civil Service for 26 years as a horticulturist and vehicle operator in Colorado Springs. Once totally retired, he enjoyed his extremely large music library and traveling with his wife, Solema.
Lou is survived by his 3 children: Louis A. (Karen) Borrego Jr. of Houston, TX., Christina R. (Bradford) Pfeif of Colorado Springs, CO., Epifanio David (Mary) Borrego of Morrison, CO; 5 grandchildren: Lori (Jim) Myers, Clayton Borrego, Chad (Stephanie) Pfeif, Shawna (her fiancée James Schutt) Pfeif, Natasha (her fiancée Isabel Lozano) Borrego; 5 great-grandchildren: Brinkley (her fiancée Barcley Roberts) Myers, Macy (Deontrae) Cooper, Mathew Borrego, Harper and Dawson Pfeif; 1 great-great grandchild, Bru Roberts. He is also survived by his siblings: Christella Marie Martinez Nily and Alberta Domitilla Martinez Gonzales, half siblings:
Martha Madrigal Noyes, Anthony Madrigal Jr., Cecila Madrigal Newell, George Madrigal, Lucille Madrigal Patterson, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his spouse, parents, grandparents, siblings: Joe Martinez Gallardo, LeRoy Martinez, Felix Martinez, infant daughter Irene Borrego, and grandson Jason Pfeif. Rosary, Mass and burial will be a private event with family.

Solema Borrego, 87, affectionately known as “Sally”, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away November 20, 2020, at her nursing facility. She was born to Cornelio and Josefa (Vigil) Fresquez on May 4, 1933 in Tercio, Colorado. Solema married Louis A. Borrego Sr., on July 5, 1952 in Trinidad, Colorado.
Solema was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and Catholic. She enjoyed being a homemaker, time with family members, cooking, reading, needlework and traveling. She grew up in the tiny town of Starkville, Colorado. As an Air Force wife of 20 years, she lived and traveled to numerous locations with Colorado Springs becoming their cherished home for 48 years. They continued to travel, once they retired. To celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary, they took a cruise to the Panama Canal.
She was married for 68 years to Louis A. Borrego Sr., who passed away on November 30, 2020. Along with her loving children: Louis A. (Karen) Borrego Jr. of Houston, TX., Christina R. Solema was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jose Maximo Onesimo Fresquez “Max” and Jose Erminio Fresquez “Herman”, infant daughter Irene Ernestine Borrego and grandson Jason Bradford Pfeif.
Rosary, Mass and burial will be a private event with family.
