

Louis L. Manley passed away on July 1st. He was born in Queen City, TX on September 6, 1921 to Leander Franklin and Lucy Mae Manley. As a child, work was plentiful on the farm where he lived with his many brothers and half sisters. Growing up he was interested in baseball and fishing and remained active in both throughout his life. A gifted athlete, he played baseball in the Texas League prior to being called to serve his country in World War II.
As soon as he was old enough he joined the Army in 1939 . On January 3, 1941 he married Vera Lorene Hanna from Meridian, TX, and soon shipped overseas. He was one of the first wave of soldiers to land on Omaha beach, Normandy and served in the 2nd Infantry Division at the Battle of the Bulge. After World War II he served in the Korean conflict. Louis and Vera later adopted two Sons from Germany, Mike (Sue) who live in Alvin TX and have two children, Jessica and Kevin and Pat (Kathy) of Fountain, CO, with two children, Matt and Breanna
Louis retired as a Command Sergeant Major with 30 years of service in 1966. Soon after retiring from the Army he opened a furniture store in Fountain, CO and was well known throughout the community for many years a s a successful businessman. Vera passed away in December, 1990,just short of celebrating 50yrs of marriage. In Feb 1992 Louis married a lovely lady, Doris Stephens. Doris has two children, Tom and Judy. Louis is survived by numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren
He was a member of the Military Order of Purple Heart , a lifetime member of the VFW of Security and Fountain, and had recently received his 50 yr pin from the Masons.
He loved his friends and family. His primary passion however , was fishing, It didn’t matter to him what the day looked like it was always time for fishing. He also received a great deal of joy from his dogs. He loved the Lord his God and was truly looking forward to going to the home not made by human hands and meeting up with loved ones and buddies. We’re certainly going to miss a wonderful Husband and Father, but look forward to seeing him again . Love you Dad.
