She is survived and blessed with nieces and nephews and their families in England, many loving Harris family members, and dear friends.
Mollie was born May 18, 1931 in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, England. She grew up during World War II in England, began her entertaining career at age 15, and met Harry in Germany while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They were married September 11, 1954 in Rastrick, England and had celebrated 59 anniversaries together.
Mollie retired from Widefield School District 3 after 20 years at Talbott Elementary as the librarian. Her many passions included telling stories, as well as writing and directing many school plays, musicals, and skits over the years. After retirement she went on to start a new career as a professional storyteller with “STORIES TO GO”, sharing her love of stories, reading, writing and acting. Mollie traveled across the country and overseas to spread her stories and folktales. She will be remembered for her storytelling outfit, merry making, and humor that delighted hundreds of lives, young ones through the elderly. Mollie also shared her British heritage and would put on “traditional tea parties” for women’s groups, churches, friends/family, nursing homes and more. She never forgot her birth country but was proud to be an American citizen and call it her home. She was a member of the Colorado Artist Guild, United Methodist Women, Walk to Emmaus, and Ladies VFW in Benton, WI. She also enjoyed sewing, church activities, camping, reading, watching “The Waltons”, being with her family, playing cards, and making people laugh.
Mollie loved the Heavenly Father, had numerous “church” friends at East UMC, CO, Spirit of Joy UMC, AZ and Leadmine PMC, WI. Mollie and Harry enjoyed their “Snowbird” home and many friends in Florence, AZ. She will be missed by so many. She is at peace from her battle with Dementia/Alzheimer’s. Mollie’s last “curtain-call” was passing over to Heaven to be with the love of her life, “her Harry”.
A visitation was held Thursday, October 8 at Dove Witt Funeral Home, Fountain, CO. The funeral service will be at East UMC, on Friday, October 9, 11:00am, with a fellowship following at the church.
