Bob & I were friends in high school. We graduated from Hudson High School in 1970. The personality he displayed as an adult was the same personality he displayed in school. He was quiet, but not shy and he was unassuming. He lived a more useful life than many of his peers and did so with integrity & love for others. I can only hope that the family will draw upon his courage in facing death & use it to sustain hope for a better tomorrow.

Bob was one of just a few officers on the police department who I counted as a personal friend. He came on a year before me, and stayed several years after me. I always enjoyed his big smile, and the stories he shared. He was genuinely interested in people, and he served with honor. When he learned I was an Army veteran also, he shared with me a little about his Army service. He and I were the same age. He entered service before the draft ended while I entered service after the draft ended. I was surprised to learn that he had served in Viet Nam, having been deployed there just before our exodus from there.  He enjoyed raising his hybrid wolves, and I enjoyed hearing him tell his stories about them. He was a quiet, but cheerful guy who could also be serious. Though I haven't seen or talked to Bob in many years, his passing did cause me pause to reflect on our friendship. I believe I will see him again someday hereafter and look forward to that. I offer my sincere condolences to his dear family.

I'd like to offer my deepest sympathy to all family and close friends in the passing of Bob Hockman.  
I worked with Bob at CSPD for a number of years until his retirement, and had the pleasure of many conversations with him over that time.  I really looked forward to seeing Bob because he always seemed to be in a great mood and never failed to have that big smile on his face.  He appeared to me as one who really enjoyed the gift of life.  He was a person who helped make my job as enjoyable as it was.
Rest in peace my friend.  You will be greatly missed.

Bob and I were classmates at the CSPD training academy in 1978, and for the first couple of years after graduation saw each other regularly from working similar assignments.  Although we lost close contact in later years due to differing shifts and assignments, when we did cross paths we were able to share stories about "the old days".  It's comforting to know that in addition to his honorable career, Bob had a close family outside of work and was able to share his life with a loving wife, children, and grandkids.  Bob, you will be missed.  Vaya con Dios, brother.

The world is a colder place, I miss you Bob.
