

Msgt. Roberto Gonzalez, retired U.S. Air Force, passed away from terminal cancer on June 9, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Naranjo Gonzalez, daughters, Deborah Gonzalez and Norma Gonzalez, grandchildren, Matthew Gonzalez and Benjamin Gonzalez. He is survived by siblings: brother, retired Army, Jose C. Gonzalez, sisters, Josefina Gonzalez, Rachel Interlicchia and Anita Gonzalez. Deceased are his parents, Jose G. and Natividad Gonzalez, sister Evelia Gonzalez and brother, Vicente Gonzalez. Roberto was born on July 14, 1940 in Robstown, Texas. He graduated Brownsville High School in 1959. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and 2 years later, married his sweetheart Rosa Naranjo in September 1962. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Aircraft Accessary Systems in the U.S. and overseas, where he received various medals and awards. His military career started as Technical Instructor from 1967-1970 at Langley AFB, Virginia, with an assignment to Palomar Air Base in Argentina. He was then stationed in Dow AFB – Bangor, Maine / Lockbourne AFB – Columbus, Ohio/ Evrueux- Fauville AB- France / Rhein-Main Air Base- Frankfurt AM Main, Germany /Camp Red Cloud- Uijeongbu, South Korea / Ubon Royal Thai AFB - Thailand / Torrejon Air Base – Madrid, Spain / Portugal / Naval Air Station Keflavik – Iceland / Langley AFB – Hampton, Virginia / Mc Chord AFB –Tacoma, Washington (supporting aircrafts such as: B52 Bomber, C-130, C-141, C-5 Cargo and F-4 Fighter planes). In addition, he travelled to Hawaii, Philippines, Holland, Italy and many more European countries. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1981. After his USAF retirement, he proceeded to work for Litton Data Systems; Ampex Corporation; Apple Computer; SCI and Sanmina Co. and retired in July 2002. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. St. Dominic Church. Roberto will be missed dearly and always be remembered for his commitment and caring of his family, serving his country, intelligence, artistic talent, hardworking and witty personality. Roberto’s hobbies were: drawing, painting, photography, barbecuing and saltwater fishing. He and his family enjoyed the priceless opportunity of traveling overseas and experiencing different cultures. Funeral Services are Tuesday, June 16 at 11:00 am, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Security, CO. Roberto will be laid to rest at Dallas –Ft. Worth, National Cemetery.
