Roger, a beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather passed away at his home on June 6, 2024.
He is survived by his wife Patricia A Pittman nee (Nokela), sons Wayne and Randy Pittman, sister Susie Baumbach, brother Alan Pittman, 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Author and Ruth, and eldest brother Paul Pittman.
Pat and Roger celebrated their 52nd Wedding anniversary in May.
Roger retired with 24yrs from Transit Mix Concrete in Colorado Springs.
He was a lifelong lover of minerals he was a long-time member of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society holding the Presidential Office of the club and also Rocky Mountain District President of the American Federation of Mineralogical societies.
His scroll saw work WOODART- won El Paso County fair, CO State fair and Pikes Peak Whittlers Carving Show accolades. He loved sharing his Lord and Savior Jesus through his art and a love for the natural world sharing mineral specimens to kids of all ages. A member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod since 1972, he served as an elder and trustee at Immanuel Lutheran Church, a Children’s Ministry Volunteer at Family of Christ, and decorated Family of Faith with his scroll saw work.
A memorial service was held at Family of Faith Lutheran Church in Falcon, Colorado on June 12, 2024. An internment service will be held at Family of Christ at a future date.
