

He was born March 24, 1933 in Bremerton, WA to Gerald and Dorothy McGuire. He attended HS at South Kitsap High in Port Orchard, WA. He joined the Naval Reserve in Bremerton, WA in 1951, then entered the US Army in March 1952 where he spent 28 years serving with 2 tours in Korea, Viet Nam, and Germany. He rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major when the rank was first established. During his career he was awarded Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal with w/6 awards, National Defense Service Medal w/ Oak Leaf Cluster, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with W/Palm, and the German Army Marksmanship award in Bronze.
He retired as Command Sergeant Major of the Test and Evaluation Command in Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.
After retirement he attended Regis College earning a BA Degree in Business. He spent an additional 15 years as a civil service employee at Ft. Carson, CO.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bernice, Son Michael, daughters Marlene and Melinda, grandchildren Noah, Cadyn and Addison.
Stan loved woodworking and gardening spending his time making many woodworking projects for his family. He loved saving seeds for new varieties of tomatoes and other vegetables and sharing plants with friends and neighbors.
A Graveside service will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 1:00pm at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
