Our dear mother, Susan Ellice Bellotti, peacefully passed away on April 18, 2023, at the age of 66. She was a wonderful wife, mother, Nona, and loving family member to her many siblings, nephews, nieces, and cousins. She treasured her friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Susan was born in Rockledge, Florida and enjoyed sharing memories of the beaches and of watching the rockets launch at Cape Canaveral. She worked for El Paso County Human Services for 24 years and was a strong believer in the benefits of higher education. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (1999) and Master’s in Non-Profit Management (2002) at Regis University, both with honors.
It is hard to describe her in just a few words, but we will always remember her kindness, intelligence, generosity, and her thankful and loving spirit. She was cheerful, optimistic, and always liked to say that the journey was just as important as the destination. She was endlessly supportive of everyone around her, and she had the sweetest heart. She devoted herself to caring for others because she believed in the goodness of people, even when they were at their worst. She was always willing to forgive and offer a second chance.
We will remember her love of holidays and family gatherings, her joy in having her dog Zoe Dianne, her positive attitude and strength. She considered her greatest accomplishments to be having a strong relationship with her family, her career and education, and she especially loved being a grandparent.
In her spare time, she loved playing with her dog Zoe, collecting beautiful figurines, watching wholesome movies, birdwatching, caring for plants and flowers, reading, and really anything as long as her husband Richard was by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lula McDonald, her brother David McDonald, her sister Linda Stroh, and her granddaughter Sarah Carter. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Richard Bellotti, and her daughters Becky Patterson, Jennifer (Duncan) Carter, and Heather Bellotti. Susan adored her grandsons Mitchell Patterson, Isaac Patterson, Christopher Carter, Nathaniel Carter, Avery Brooks Jr, David Brooks II, and Dallas Brooks. Susan is sorely missed by her siblings Karen (Len) Roller, Alan (Delisa) McDonald, Daniel (Kiko) McDonald, Julie Martinez, as well as sister-in-laws Susan L. Bellotti and Elaine McDonald, and brother-in-law Paul Stroh.
To honor Susan’s memory, we are holding a Vistation from 9:30-10:30 am followed by the Holy Rosary 10:30 am, Mass 11:00 am and Reception following the mass on May 2nd, 2023, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Colorado Springs Colorado. Susan will be laid to rest at North Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Walsenburg, Colorado, on May 4th, 2023 11:00 am. We invite anyone who knew and loved Susan to attend and remember her wonderful life. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Circle of Hope International (https://cohcommunity.org/) or the Springs Rescue Mission (https://www.springsrescuemission.org/).
