

Born on July 24, 1925 in Coffeeville, KS, Bill was the 4th of 8 children born to Larry and Hester (Ferrell) Hodges. Bill joined the Navy during World War II, serving as a motor machinist’s mate aboard the USS Dorthea L. Dix. Bill operated naval landing craft that participated in military action in Africa, the Pacific, and Europe; including the invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach.
Bill married Bonnie M. Carlton of Caney, KS on January 5, 1947 and moved to Denver Colorado where they both came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, surrendering their lives to full-time Christian ministry. Bill and Bonnie were missionaries to Brazil as well as Old Mexico. In 1971 Bill founded Gideon Baptist Church (now Cross Creek Church) in Fountain, CO, where he served as Senior Pastor until his retirement in 1997.
Bill is survived by his two sisters, Anne Peterson and Joleen ( Rick ) Piesker; his four children, sons William (Billy) and Timothy (Kathy), and daughters Starla (Robbie)Black and Cindi (Pat) Crouch; 8 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; his four brothers and one sister; and his beloved wife Bonnie.
Dove Witt, 6630 S. Highway 85/87 Fountain, CO., will have a viewing for those wishing to pay their respects on Thursday August 4,2016 beginning at 5 PM for family and 6 PM to 8 PM for all.
A graveside burial service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expy. Colorado Springs, at 10 AM Friday August 5, 2016.
A memorial service will be held at Cross Creek Church, 1320 C&S Road, Fountain, CO. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10 AM.
