Born in Bridgeport, Ct on February 18, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Delucia.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Ralph Sgarlata, a son, John Sgarlata and his wife, Nancy of Fredericksburg, two grandchildren, John Sgarlata Jr. and his wife Amanda and Sarah Sgarlata, as well as several nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law, Frank Scaduto and sister-in-law Jean DeLucia.
She was predeceased by her sisters Rose Turiano and Daisy Scaduto, and a brother Sandy DeLucia.
Angela’s family was devoted to her and she in turn was devoted to them: her eyes sparkled when she or anyone mentioned her grandchildren, John and Sarah, the two highlights of her life. Angela was a kind and gentle soul – a giver, finding great pleasure in surprising people whether it was with a homemade pot of soup or with a single rose. She spent countless hours knitting and crocheting, with much perfection: sweaters, shawls, baby outfits, tiny coats, jackets and hats for family and friends. Angela and Ralph with their son John and his family enjoyed many happy times, together. John and Nancy, and Ralph were by her side while in Hospice care, as well as John, Jr., Amanda and Sarah.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m. Friday, September 6 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 7 at Faith Baptist Church. Interment will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, September 9 at Quantico National Cemetery.
