Anthony (Tony) J. Deutsch, 81, of Spotsylvania County, passed away October 20, 2022 at his home. He was born in Indiana, PA and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, before finally settling in Spotsylvania, VA for the last 31 years.
Tony was the only child of Norbert and Mary Penezic Deutsch, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and also a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force, obtaining the rank of Captain before being honorably discharged. Tony later went to work for the U.S. Treasury Department as a Senior Systems Analyst where he retired in 1998. After retirement he started his own company, Deutsch Associates, and worked as a consultant for the U.S. Treasury Department for many years.
Tony is survived by his son, Andrew O. Deutsch, of Pittsburgh, PA, his daughter, Holly J. Williams and her husband, Richard Bowen, his son, Thad C. Williams and wife, Lindsey Williams, grandchildren, Jake and Emma Williams, step-grandchildren, Austin and Jaxon Bowen, all of Fredericksburg. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Richard H. Easley (Gail), of Fredericksburg and sister-in-law, Kathi A. DeSouter (Robert), of Pocomoke City, MD. Also left to cherish his memories are his special friends, Joey DeSanto, Steven Blauvelt, and Mark Williams, affectionately known as the “Breakfast Club”, his cousins and extended family from the Penezic family, the mother of his children, Eleanor Deutsch, many other friends and family, and his beloved fur-babies, Shadow and Stormy.
Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 25 years, Patricia E. Deutsch, whom he has dearly missed since she passed two years ago, and his family rejoices in knowing he is finally reunited with her. He is also preceded in death by two of his beloved children, his daughter, Susan M. Deutsch and his son, Anthony N. Deutsch.
Tony was a loving, kind, and a truly genuine person that never met a stranger. He loved to tell tales of his life experiences, and was passionate of all things “planes, trains and automobiles.” He was well loved at businesses across the Fredericksburg area and would often stop in to deliver treats from his favorite donut shop, Paul’s Bakery, to his many friends around the area. He will be missed by many.
Sunday, October 30th, the family will welcome friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service with full military honors will be held at Quantico National Cemetery, on Monday, October 31st at 11:00 a.m. Participants are asked to be there by 10:30 a.m.
