Betty was born in Washington D. C. She was the oldest surviving daughter of the late Stanley and Ruth Payne.
She is survived by her children John C. Nicholson Jr. and Cathleen (Cory) Key; grandchildren John, Lena, John III and Zella who she greatly loved; and a brother Stephen (Jeannie) Payne.
Betty was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and retired from Lynchburg City Schools.
A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lynchburg VA on Saturday, February 10th at 1:00.
