

She was born on March 1, 1946, in Bryan, Ohio to the late Lewis and Catherine (Davis) Koehler.
Carol was a woman of kindness, resilience and unwavering love for her family. She dedicated her life to caring for those she loved creating a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, wisdom, and the comforting aroma of her famous home cooked meals. Carol had a passion for living a fit and healthy lifestyle.
Above all, Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She carried herself with quiet strength, always offering words of encouragement and a listening ear. The greatest joy was her family, and she took pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren cherishing every moment spent together.
Carol’s warmth, generosity and gentle spirit will be deeply missed, but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Predeceased by her parents and husband Denby Matthews.
Survivors include two children: Ryan Matthews and Kelly Bonner and husband Jim and their children: Colin and Madison Bonner; two sisters: Nancy Allerhand and husband Adam and their children: Rebecca and Joanna Allerhand; and Connie Widney and husband Chuck and their children: Sarah Widney and husband Jeff Adrian and Karl Widney; Sister-in-law: Jean Wilhide and husband Doug and their children: Andy Wilhide-Biel and husband Justin and Sam Wilhide and wife Jessica.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Highway, Fredericksburg, VA at 2:00 PM. The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Interment will be private.
