He was born on May 6, 1937 in Rappahannock County, VA the son of the late Emmett Cox and Daisy Mae (Nichols) Cox. He retired as a bridge Inspector for the Virginia Department of Transportation. He served in the US Army.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Catherine Hawkins; step-daughter, Wendy Williams and husband Robert; one grandson, Justin Maymi; Nieces, Joy C. Anderson and husband Mike, Pamela Kiser and husband John; nephews, Scott Curtis and John Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Frances Curtis and a brother, Douglas Hawkins.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 11:00am at the Culpeper National Cemetery.
