David Jonathan Myer

David “Dave” Jonathan Myer, age 64, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, in his wife’s arms while listening to Psalms 23 at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA, just one month shy of their 43rd wedding anniversary.

He was born on September 26, 1960, in Richmond, Virginia to the late Charles Wayne and Christine Frances (Madison) Myer.

Dave had a deep love for music, especially classic rock, even teaching himself to play the drums by ear. He was a classic car enthusiast, having built plastic models of many of them. Known for his goofy sense of humor, endless corny jokes, and flawless Donald Duck impression, he had a true gift for making people laugh.

He found joy and peace in the outdoors: hiking mountain trails, watching thunderstorms, and sitting by the fire pit at the original 1800’s cabin at the family farm, air drumming to his favorite songs. Technology never interested him much; he believed the best parts of life were unplugged and personal.

Dave loved his family deeply and had a soft spot for animals, especially his beloved cat Boing. But above all, his strongest devotion was to his God, Jehovah. His faith gave him purpose, peace, and a firm foundation; he lived by it with sincerity and humility.

He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Jesse Myer.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Lois Myer; one brother, Daniel Myer; sister-in-law, Kathy Myer; niece, Kristi Myer and nephew, Zak Myer, mother-in-law Rebecca Anderson, brothers-in-law Ted Anderson, Jr. (Renee), Peyton Anderson (Lorie), one aunt, Marie Chalkley, cousins Mark Chalkley (Diane) and Lydia C. Daniel (Henry), nieces and nephews by marriage: J.E. Anderson, Christina Nunn (daughter Macie), Kristian Armstead, Ashley Adkins (Jonathan) and Alexis Staples (Tyler). He shared a special bond with them all, valuing family deeply. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 6445 Morris Rd, Spotsylvania, VA 22551. Zoom attendance is available.
