He was born on November 11, 1975, in Leesburg, VA to Dennis David Hardy, Sr. and Dora Lee (Rose) Hardy.
David Hardy was loved by so many. His legal name was Dennis “David” Hardy, Jr, but those who knew him well called him David. David was a true southern boy, growing up hunting, fishing, riding around on four wheelers, watching Jeff Gordon in NASCAR, and playing football. He attended Loudoun County High School where he was a proud Lineman for Raiders Football, and not only received his diploma, but his HVAC certification. After high school, he moved to Fredericksburg, where he met his future wife through his sister’s coworker. Sarah was a school teacher and he always helped out in her classroom. On the day he passed, he made not one but two visits to help her at her school.
David and Sarah had two amazing miracle children who were and still are the light of his life. He could be found at every one of James’ baseball games, even serving as his coach for a few years. Together, they loved their evening GrubHub runs, attending concerts, going to car shows, and watching Commanders Football games. His daughter Faith had him wrapped around her finger since day one. He attended every one of her life activities he could, and loved cheering her on at volleyball and soccer games. He really loved her fire on the soccer field, but could usually be found pacing when the game got really good. He was so proud of James for graduating from Courtland High School, and for attending Radford University. He was eager to watch Faith’s graduation from Courtland HIgh School and move her in at Longwood University in the Fall. He was so proud to be able to join her when she was admitted into Longwood University’s Cormier Honors College earlier this year.
David was a Sr. Maintenance Supervisor at Mid-America Apartments where he worked for over 8 years. He always worked at an exceptional level and was very proud of all the work he did there. He also followed the lead of both of his kids and worked part time in Catering at Mission Barbeque where he enjoyed getting to serve Veterans and share his true patriotism. If he knew you, he would do anything for you and yet he refused to accept help from others.
In his spare time, David was known for his Hey Dudes, cowboy boots, and jeans, loved working in his garden, building things for his family, was an avid listener (and winner!) for local radio station contests, loved attending concerts with his kids, loved church, and loved the Lord!
His unexpected departure left a hole in the hearts of so many people whose lives he touched. David’s strong Faith brings peace as we know he is now in Heaven with the Lord, and that we will see him again soon.
Predeceased by his mother: Dora Lee Hardy.
