

Dorothy Bernice Rosenberg, born on February 27,1919, age 107 years old, sister of Dr. Ronald A. Apter (Rita), aunt of Laura Holland (Lance) and Dana Blaine ( Roger), great aunt to Max Holland (Julia), Adam Blaine (Madison), Harrison Holland, Brian Blaine and Carly Blaine and Great Great Aunt to Audrey Rose Holland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Dorothy was born in Staten Island, New York . She moved with her family to the Washington DC area where she graduated from The George Washington University in 1941 with a B.A. in Education. She spent over 40 years as a chief editor of The Federal Register at The National Archives.
She was always interested in the arts. She studied dancing in her earlier years and loved the theater. She was known to her nieces and nephews as "Auntie Dot" and she loved and was loved by all.
As the years progressed, Aunt Dot lived a great life of travel to many parts of the world but particularly enjoyed Asian art and culture. She entered Spring Arbor assisted living facility following a stroke which incapacitated her . She remained there until her passing.
Her special friend was Debbie Cheshire who selflessly did so many things for her and for which her family is grateful.
Dorothy outlived most of her friends of her youth, but we, her family, will always remember her as our eternal Ingenue.
A Graveside Service will be held at King David Memorial Gardens, 2712 Hollywood Road, Falls Church, Virginia 22042, on May 15, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
