Born on June 20, 1939 in Chattanooga, TN, he was the youngest son of the late Julius C. and Mozelle (Goray) Vessels. Jim served in the Air Force before meeting and marrying his wife, Linda in Gadsden, AL. They moved to Maryland where he worked as a firefighter in Washington DC. He retired in 1980 as a Captain in the Washington DC fire department. `
Jim is survived by his daughter, Terri Vessels Woundy (husband - Daniel) of Fredericksburg, VA; and his sister, Miriam Vessels of Indianapolis, IN. His brother William Vessels died in 2021.
