

John was born in Jacksonville, Florida, grew up in Miami, and traveled the world through the Navy. He met the love of his life, Carlotta, in Fairbanks, Alaska, and they married in 1969. They moved to Virginia, where John worked as an aerospace engineer at General Electric, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman.
John and Carlotta settled on a farm in Sumerduck, VA, where they raised their two children, Johnny and Jenna; restored their early nineteenth-century farmhouse; cultivated vineyards; and founded Rogers Ford Farm Winery. John had a passion for Christ, winemaking, astronomy, classical music, gourmet food, dachshunds, sports cars, and fireworks. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, skiing, tubing on the Rappahannock River, and being a devoted ”Opa” to his grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carlotta (Farrell) Puckett; his children, John Arthur “Johnny” Puckett Jr. (Adriana) of Fredericksburg, VA and Jenna Joyce Baker of Knoxville, TN; and his grandchildren, Chloe, Jacob, Lillian, Julia, Abigail “Max,” Isabel, and Molly. He is preceded in death by his mother Hilma Joyce (Wilson) Puckett, father Manor Smith Puckett, and granddaughter Sophia Ortner.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday 7/1/21 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1009 Stafford Avenue, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. A private internment will follow.
