

Margaret Frances Peterson, 72, was born January 5, 1953 in Rochester, New York to Edward P. Cutter Jr and Bernice Huber and departed this life January 1, 2026 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She attended Pittsford, New York public schools and graduated from Pittsford High School with the class of 1971. Early in her life she knew she wanted to be a nurse and started towards that goal by attending SUNY Brockport in New York. She joined the Army in 1973 and continued her nursing studies at Ft. Lewis, Washington. There she met a sailor whom she would marry in 1976 and spend almost 50 years with. Her nursing career took her to Sierra Vista and Tucson, Arizona, Ft. Wayne, Indiana and onto Ft Gibson, Oklahoma. Wanting to put down roots, she found a home at what was then Muskogee General Hospital where she spent the next couple of decades. After retiring from Muskogee Regional Medical Center as Director of Rehabilitation and Medical Oncology she went "up the hill" to J.C. Montgomery VA Hospital where she retired (again) in 2017.
When her first grandchild was born she told her husband she was moving to Virginia because she wanted to watch her grow and he was welcome to come along. So they moved to Spotsylvania, Virginia.
Peggy is survived by her husband Gary of the home, son Charles and wife Soo of Virginia and son Jason and daughter Amanda of Texas. Other survivors include sister Carol Segall and husband Barrie of Massachusetts , brother Clyde and wife Laura of New York, grandchildren Paige and Noah of Virginia and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Bernice Cutter.
A celebration of her life will be held on March 20th at 11:00 in Boulevard Christian Church, 1700 W. Shawnee St.Muskogee, Oklahoma with interment in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery,1423 Cemetery Rd, Fort Gibson, OK 74434 .
