

Mildred left this world a better place by teaching us all what family means and how to appreciate its strength and beauty. She was a true lady and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Marshall Lavinus Sr.; a son, Gary Lavinus; her parents, Mary Smith Allen Eldert and William Eldert Jr.; sisters Dorothy Bartlett and Shirley Foreman; and brothers Leonard Allen and Elton Eldert. She is survived by children Thomas M. Lavinus, Jr. (Rita), Sharon Polhamus, (James), Mary Ann Gardner, (Frank), Bruce Lavinus, Phillip Lavinus, Patrick Lavinus (Gayle), Charles Roberts, (Mabel) and Carol Myers; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Lavinus; siblings Ethel Lavinus, William Eldert III, Janice Lackey and Carolyn Easley.
She also lovingly leaves 154 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Edgar Porter, Gary Lavinus Jr., Eric Stewart, Marshall Lavinus III, Andy Lavinus and Steven Lavinus. Honorary pallbearers will be Darryl Reed, Mark Eldert and Jon Gardner.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at the funeral home with interment to follow at 1 p.m. in Culpeper National Cemetery.
