

He was born on August 16, 1929, in Laredo, Texas, to Jose and Guadalupe Lopez. He was a proud and hardworking man. He served in the United States Air Force for 27 years. He met his wife while stationed in England in 1952 where he served the majority of his career. After military service, he worked for the DOD as Fire Chief of Technical Services at RAF Mildenhall for 20 years.
Bob loved to golf in his free time. He also enjoyed working in the garden with his wife. He earned his associates degree in Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Pedro Lopez and his mother, Guadalupe (Cavazos) Lopez, his sister, Petra Lopez, and brothers Juan Crisotono Lopez and Jose Angel Lopez.
Bob is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley Margaret (Sapcote) Lopez and his three daughters Linda Louise (Charles) Mattern, Donna Marie (Randall) Powers, and Teresa Denise Ford: three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Quantico National Cemetery,18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, VA 22172. After entering the gate at Quantico National Cemetery, make the first right and join the procession line up in Lane B. This will be the far left lane next to the administration building. If you arrive early, you can park at the administration building in the meantime.
