Grandson of Arthur & Mabel Raines.
Dennis was born in 1945. Dennis departed
earth on January 5, 2016 and is now "absent from the body,
and present with our Lord Jesus."
Dennis lead a life of service to God, family, country,
and his friends. Dennis retired from the Dept. of Army as
Director of Administrator Services for the Secretary
of the Army. Dennis' Dad passed when Dennis
was a young man. Dennis honored his Dad by
providing for and serving his mother and grandmother.
Everything came full circle when Dennis became ill
with kidney failure, as he learned the need to have a caregiver.
Dennis loved growing beautiful flower gardens and he
also enjoyed collecting beautiful things that God gave
mankind the ability to create. Dennis said, "I find what people
have already developed is beautiful, and by gosh, there's
so much around that we can enjoy."
In spite of being shunned and criticized, Dennis stood
by the underdog and supported them. He stood strong
for the underdog because he had a special gift of knowing
a person's true heart.
In Dennis' latter years he learned how to play the piano.
Dennis loved playing hymns and praising Jesus with music.
Dennis will be truly & dearly missed by his friends,
and everyone he knew, and his best friend, caretaker & brother in Christ.
Thank you to all the wonderful friends Dennis knew,
whom I have had the pleasure to meet.
Thank you to all his classmates who gave honor to Dennis
at the 50th year class reunion. Special thanks to Danny for
the beautiful heartfelt speech to honor Dennis, and to Joe H.
for telling Dennis about the speech. Dennis never knew he had
a positive impact on other people's lives until he heard about the speech.
Thank you to everyone at Mary Washington Hospice for
your help and support.
