He is survived by two nephews, Lyle McWhirt and Douglas McWhirt and four nieces, Emily Powell, Betty Harding, Lois Lettner, and Becky Blanton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marion McWhirt.
A memorial service will be held at Golden Living Nursing Home on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 2:30 PM. Inurnment will be at a later date in Quantico National Cemetery.
