Josephine Denty James

Josephine was born on May 7, 1937 in Little Rock, AR the daughter of Samuel Jr and Nancy (Moore) Denty who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Webster Groves High School in St Louis County and then attended University of Missouri. On February 1, 1958 she was united in marriage to Charles W James in Webster Groves, MO. She was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church, active member of P.E.O in Fulton, MO, was very involved in the community serving “meals on wheels” and helping with other various activities. Jo enjoyed gardening, playing softball, golfing, bowling and playing cards, especially bridge. Her passion for being a mother and grandmother was her pride and joy. Her family said she was “mother of the century” and was constantly running children and grandchildren from one activity to another. Her faith, family and circle of friends was her top priority and she will be greatly missed by them all.

Survivors include: her husband of 66 years, Charles W. James of the home; one son, Charles “Sam” James (Tina) of Gulf Breeze, FL; two sisters, Susan Lippincott of Tampa Bay, FL and Nancy Breidenthal (Richard) of Sand Pointe, ID; five grandchildren, Megan Friday, Mallory Morice, Mackenzie Means, Brian James and Kristen James and five great-grandchildren, Cuatro Friday, Shari Ann Friday, Micah Jo Morice, Landon Akers and Harlow James. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Means in 2018.

A special thank you to Darla Graves for her many years of cleaning help to Jo and also to Alisha Ramsey for her work as the main visiting angel to assist Jo over the last year plus.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 10:00 – 12:00 pm at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton, MO. Funeral service will follow at Noon at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Mallinckrodt officiating. Entombment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, MO.
