Lloyd was born January 15, 1939 in Fulton, Missouri as the only child of Edith and Dudley Fitch. He attended Fulton Public Schools, graduating from Fulton High School with the class of 1957.
Following a year at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, he worked at Wren’s Automotive of Fulton and then Ovid Bell Press briefly. In February of 1963 Lloyd started working for the Missouri Department of Transportation in Jefferson City. He retired in 2004 after 41 years of service.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Glenda Louise Maupin on May 10, 1980. He was the proud father of three children: an older daughter, Anita (Fitch) Halford, from a previous marriage, and two children with Glenda—a son, Brian L. Fitch, and a daughter, Sheila R. (Fitch) Moore.
Lloyd was a faithful member of the Fulton First Christian Church. He was a church board member for many years and served as a Deacon and Elder. He was also involved in the Fulton Breakfast Optimist Club and the Thursday evening bowling leagues, bowling for Fritz Welding and Machine Shop for many years. As his children grew up the family became more interested in traveling, making an out of state trip every other year and finally traveling overseas as their children became involved in foreign study abroad during college. Eventually he and Glenda made it to all 50 states plus several foreign countries before his health would no longer allow him to travel.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Glenda; daughter, Anita Halford of Poplar Bluff, MO; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Erika Fitch of Columbia MO; daughter and son-in-law Sheila and David “Tony” Moore of Plainfield, IL; 7 grandchildren, Amanda Tiarks (Mike), Poplar Bluff, MO; Melissa Johnson, Dexter, MO; Sarah Brown, Doniphan, MO; Layne Trice, Poplar Bluff, MO; Evan Fitch and Alaina Fitch, Columbia, MO and Alexander Moore, Plainfield, IL; 7 greatgrandchildren Kyle Sentell, Taylor Hanley, Andrew Hanley, Shelby Johnson, Emma Johnson, Sophia Brown and Stella Brown; and 2 nieces and a nephew.
