Lucy was born on August 26, 1924 in Fulton, MO the daughter of Edwin and Stella (Maddox) Roberts who preceded her in death. On February 5, 1947, she was united in marriage in Fulton, MO to Wesley Reed Sampson who preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Bentley Sampson and two brothers, Norman Roberts and Joe Roberts. She was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church in Fulton, teaching Sunday School into her nineties. Lucy retired in 1989 from Callaway Bank as a note teller. She enjoyed reading, watching Jeopardy, and listening to Cardinal baseball on the radio. She cherished her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be missed.
Survivors include: her three sons, Edwin Sampson (Stacie) of Raymore, MO, Kerry Sampson (Ann) of Granbury, TX and Dexter Sampson of Fulton, MO; two grandsons, Louis Sampson of Raymore, MO and John Sampson of Ft. Stockton, TX; sister-in-law, Joan Sampson and seven nieces and nephews, Paul Roberts (Jan), Rosemary Robinson (Paul), John Hardin (Lera), Kathy Hardin, Ann Oestreich (Joe), Mary Jane Byrd (Bill), Becky Beyer (Bob) and also cousins Wayne Guerrant (Linda) and Norma Houchins (Harold).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am Debo Funeral Home, Fulton, MO. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Guy Thomas officiating. Burial will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton, MO.
