

He was born April 21, 1933 in Callaway County Missouri, the son of the late Overt Roe and Leta (Musgrove) Salmons. On November 17, 1951 he married Opal Butcher in Fulton. She survives of the home.
Richard was an avid Cardinal fan. Most of all he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was employed at Harbison- Walker for 28 years until it closed. Then he retired from Fulton State Hospital after 10 years of service. He loved gardening, hunting and woodworking. Richard built their home and much of the furniture in it.
Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 61 years, Opal, one daughter, Ellen Pendergras of Fulton, two sons, Michael (Stephanie) Salmons of Fulton and Scott (Karla) Salmons of Madison, MO.; nine grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Two brothers; Fred (Mary Jo) Salmons of Auxvasse and Ralph Salmons of Fulton; one sister Thelma (Kenneth) Morris of Fulton. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, son Richard, and one son-in-law Emmett Pendergras
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Rev. Walter Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home in Fulton.
