Acton Eugene Brown

Acton Eugene Brown: Funeral services will be at Rainbow Church of Christ at 12 Noon on Saturday, September 12, for Acton Eugene Brown, 77, who died September 10, at his home in Gadsden. He will lie in state 1 hour prior to the service. Pastors Blake Jones and Norman Flynn will officiate. Burial will be in Rainbow Memorial Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Brown was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew him, but rejoice as reunites with his wife Barbara and his new eternal life with Christ. He worked in many ministries such as jail and nursing home ministries and the World Bible School to lead others to know Christ. He was an Elder and member of Rainbow Church of Christ and loved his church family, helping and serving others. He served in the Air Force and was retired from Gulf States Steel.

He is survived by his son Gene (Susan) Brown of Southside, AL and daughters Judith Brown and Denise Ezell of Prattville, AL. Five grandchildren, Andrea (Dustin) Wilson of Jacksonville, AL., Nathan (Emily) Brown of New Orleans, LA, Jennifer Brown, Kendra and Brittany Ezell of Prattville, AL. Six great-grandchildren Gideon and Titus Brown of New Orleans, LA, Lauren, Claire and Evelyn Wilson of Jacksonville, AL and Seth Brown of Prattville, AL. Sister, Patricia Campbell of Columbus Georgia and Brother, Douglas (Sybil) Brown of Southside, Alabama; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Barbara Ann Brown and parents Acton & Sarah Brown.

Pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of Rainbow Church of Christ.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Radiology staff of Gadsden Regional who were always concerned about our fathers care and Amedysis Hospice who provided love and care to the entire family. Also appreciation is extended to close friend Don Dover.

The family will meet at 530PM, Friday and will accept friends for visitation from 6 to 8 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.

Flowers are appreciated (no potted plants) but in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the World Bible School at Rainbow Church of Christ.
